It is important for you to know how your investments are making a difference. We wanted to share a company highlight from our Blue Summit investment models.
With North American headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts, Veolia is a leader in water, waste, and energy management solutions. Their services support municipalities, industrial customers, and communities across the continent — helping provide clean drinking water, reduce waste, and deliver more efficient energy systems. Their work plays a key role in building more resilient infrastructure and advancing environmental sustainability across sectors.
Below are some highlights of Veolia North America’s comprehensive sustainability strategy:
Climate Action and Decarbonization - Veolia helps communities reduce emissions through energy efficiency solutions, renewable energy integration, and landfill gas-to-energy projects. For example, in Metro Vancouver, they operate a waste-to-energy facility that processes roughly one-quarter of the region’s waste, generating about 180,000 MWh of electricity annually—enough to power 16,000 homes.
Water Stewardship and Resource Protection - Veolia is addressing emerging water quality challenges at scale. In 2024, they treated over 24 billion gallons of PFAS-contaminated water across more than 30 locations, protect drinking water for over 10 million people.
Circular Economy and Waste Reduction - The company is advancing circular solutions through both recycling and hazardous waste processing. In 2024, Veolia managed approximately 2,000 tons of lithium-ion batteries and related materials from decommissioned energy storage systems, enabling valuable metals to be recovered and reused
Innovation in Sustainable Infrastructure - Veolia uses data analytics and predictive tools to optimize water, waste, and energy systems in real time, helping cities and industrial clients reduce resource consumption and detect inefficiencies earlier. They are also innovating in areas like battery recycling solvents (NMP recovery) to support the growing electric vehicle supply chain.
Community and Social Impact - Their community work includes workforce development initiatives like a wastewater training course developed with Seymour High School in Connecticut, as well as leadership and internship programs that help build the next generation of environmental professionals. Through its Veolia Cares program, employees also receive paid time to support volunteer and community projects. Veolia also aligns its sustainability strategy with global frameworks including the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the UN Global Compact, reinforcing its commitment to responsible business practices.
These initiatives reflect Veolia North America’s commitment to advancing sustainability through practical, on-the-ground solutions that support both environmental protection and economic development.
