International Sustainable Investment Conference
Blue Summit Wealth Management Attends International Sustainable Investment Conference

The annual conference for Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) professionals, known as "SRI in the Rockies" (SRIR), is being held in Albuquerque, NM beginning this Saturday Nov 3 - 6th.
With almost 700 participants registered for this year's event, the conference had to close its doors to new registration several weeks ago. Fortunately, San Diego's SRI Representatives, Blue Summit Wealth Management, made it in long before the cut-off.
In fact, Blue Summit's founder, Judith Seid, is on this year's conference agenda committee. She has been working diligently over the past several months to secure panelists and plenary presentations from big-name speakers like California's former Treasury Secretary Phil Angelides who founded California's "GreenWave" Initiative focusing on sustainable investing. Seid was also instrumental in organizing a panel discussion on sweatshop labor and modern-day slavery with representatives from Gap and Ford.
"This will be my 15th consecutive year participating in the SRIR conference and our industry clearly is at the tipping point," remarked Seid, "individual and institutional investors alike are now looking at what used to be considered social issues and seeing them now as business opportunities and long term profit issues."
The business risks and opportunities of climate change, corporate scandals, and the increasing corporate influence over the political system in part has helped fuel the growth of interest in this conference and the SRI industry in general.
As well, investors have seen soaring alternative energy markets, a booming green building sector, and a steadily strong organics market, just to name a few. "We really see this as just the beginning," commented Shane Yonston, a partner at Blue Summit who will also be attending the conference. "With the staggering growth in world population and the increased pressure on the planets ecosystem, we don't have much of a choice but to move towards a more sustainable model than the one we're currently operating."
The theme of this year's conference is "Tomorrow's Economy: Investing for a Sustainable World."
